A few weekends ago, a large swath of the Brewster/Southeast community spent the day placing flags on veteran’s graves, in preparation for Memorial Day. The picture here was taken by Rob Gallacher at Milltown Cemetery. The crowd is listening to project coordinator Jack Duncan talk about one of the interred veterans – Arthur E. Hansen – who served during WWI and was well-known in the Southeast community during his life. Later the same day, folks gathered at St Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery to replace the flags there and hold a ceremony at the gravesite of WWII veteran John Santorelli, who passed away during the past year.
